OK, the green upvotes will make a certain answer rise further up the page as the most popular. The " Thanks " is what really counts as the person who answered the question knows that people liked and thanked them for the answer. I always give a vote and a Thanks to good answers whoever they might be from. The blurt will share your answer with other people that follow that person.
