With all the hype and awareness about leaving dogs or small children in hot cars .. What would you be willing to do if you discovered something like that?

If I see something like that, someone's expensive car is getting trashed.

Bash a car window in get the kid or dog out call the law then when the adult showed up get in their face

I would have no problem breaking a window. It is now legal in Florida to do so. I locked my own dog in the car with my keys when I stopped for gas when traveling. Thankfully I was parked in the shade, but it was still hot out. I called roadside assistance and a locksmith. They both told me it would be an hour to get to me. After 30 minutes I had a cop break my window. She was ore frightened than overheated.

I remember one time it wasn't hot of course but a woman left her kid in the car while she ran in the store. My jaw dropped to the floor. I kept an "eye" on the kid till she came back. She gave me a dirty look and took off. It's not just hot cars parents need to worry about.... Its kidnappers and kids climbing out of their seat accidentally driving the car. Or on a lesser way...... How about someone reporting it to the authorities! That could be considered child neglect!

I've broken one window and will not hesitate to break another one.

Dog or child I would break the window if the dog or child was in obvious distress. Call 911 if either incident was occurring without obvious distress. Both leaving a dog or child in an unattended car is a crime in most jurisdictions.

As for the dog, since most jurisdictions do not allow breaking of window, I would break the window of a car with a dog in obvious distress ( lethargic, heavy panting and the like ) and take the consequencies. I would want someone to do that for my dog if I somehow became incapacitaed and she was in destress.

I would call the police, and if they didn't get there quickly enough for me, I would break the window.
