Anyone else see the irony in bringing in plastic money to pay for our plastic carrier bags, ie a charge brought in to reduce the carbon footprint caused by plastic?

You got that right! Maybe we could switch to bitcoins and do away with money altogether.

I gotta confess that in Oz very few stores put a price on plastic bags but, even so, many of us have taken to shopping with reusable bags.

I wouldn't want to switch to bitcoins, once everything is digitally recorded "they" will have you by the balls on taxes, you won't be able to buy or sell anything "cash in hand."

We have the first plastic money here in the UK as of last week. Five pounds is a piece of plastic.

Goes with the people managing the money.

I know, I got my first fiver and thought it looked like something out of the game Monopoly, still all money is just paper and has no worth in of itself

Was it true about a AK47 serial number selling for thousands of pounds or was that poppycock?

Not really.

Plastic currency can be reused, the same as "paper" currency ... While few people reuse or recycle plastic bags, so that they are used once then wind up in a landfill (at best).
