I'm pretty sure there's gonna be robot maids floating around in space hotels in the next twenty years......that's not medical but it's important. A few months ago I thought the floating maids would be human ... But I decided the shouldn't have to deal with all that floating Spoodge. Robots then.

I've only read her In Death series but they're my favourites. Mrs Didge, too. So much good humour.

I think there would be improvement in Nano technology , there would be a technology where mind uploading in computer can be done , so we can be still immortal , still we have hope in cryonics and also biological immortality , after that humans and animals would tend to live forever , there would be no place on earth , so humans would find other planet to live in .

Nanotechnology is scary. So many possibilities for good but also for bad. Mind you, there's a certain president-elect I won't name who might benefit from some nanobots in the noodle.

But liver forever? That scares the bejesus out of me. I doubt if I could handle another 30 or 40 years, let alone eternal life. Still, it'd give me the opportunity to study a whole lot of new things I didn't get around to in this lifetime.

Dear Didge,

I think we will see tremendous advances in human psychology, for example treating and understanding trauma. Maybe fractals will be involved here... human systems and even the brain as fractal in nature?

Already there are recoveries undreamed not that long ago.

That's a clever idea, Virginia, and suits you so well. I hadn't thought in those terms but the possibilities are certainly there.

Did you see in today's news that the US Surgeon General has stated that Addiction Is A Chronic Brain Disease, Not A Moral Failing? If that is acted on it may prove vital in helping to understand mental illness of all kinds.

Dozy yes...that is the kind of advance in understanding which might be very likely.
And then the options for treatment open up to...

I am going to do my exercises, and then I will read the article, with delight!

AI, or a form of AI

The human race is going to Mars, which isn't really a breakthrough since the news is old, but it's pretty amazing

Virtual reality will become more widespread

VR is exciting. Even used purely as an entertainment it will put all manner of wonders within grasp of ordinary people.

Mars? Won't that be something! I guess it's really just a matter of finding enough money to do it. It would cost as much as a medium-sized war to establish a colony there.

And AI? I've watch it's development and where it's going next is mind boggling. I think you've picked three exciting developments, Tris.

I don't think there will be a cure for cancer, as it is too broad of a disease. For example, there are seven different types of breast cancer and one of them has six subsets to it. I am hoping there will be better ways to detect and treat each cancer.

there is research going on, thinking cancer is due to a lack in peoples immune system and there will be no cure, but rather a control.. Similar to diabetes.. there is no cure for diabetes, but there is a control.

Those are good points. Of course, research is going on all the time, and progress is being made. Let's hope so.

Perhaps we can inject them with an education while they're still in the womb. Or maybe they can soak it up by osmosis. Otherwise I don't see it happening. :(
