If a bank screws up with your money just one time, would that be enough for you to switch to another bank?

No. My bank (15 yrs)  has been super super good to me on giving me back my money when others had made a mistake.

My daughter had 1  problem with my bank, left, went to Wells Fargo and Loves them.

If it was a minor human error, I'd give them a second chance but if it was an error that involved a lot of my money, I'd yank it out of there.

That would depend on their attitude to the screw-up. If they did everything I would consider reasonable (or sufficiently explain those things that didn't get done) I'd give them a second chance. They wouldn't get a third opportunity, though.

The problems with banks is that one is much like another. Like insurance companies, they'll all stiff you if they find a loophole.

It would have to be a big screw up to make me switch ... I have all my bills set up to come out of my account  and I don't have time or patience to deal with getting all that switched.

It depends on the screw up and how it wad handled. I used to be a lead teller in a bank, and teiiers are human and make mistakes from time to time. Most are caught at the end of day balancing and corrected without a customer even being aware a mistake was made.

However if something did happen, I or the teller in question called to personally apologize and offer a token of appreciation for their business, usually only $5. I  had one customer whose account was badly damaged by a teller error. I was on vacation at the time and one of our desk people took the complaint and blamed the customer without any real investigation. When I got back and got a call from the customer I found the problem, fixed it. Wrote several letters to companies that had received checks that were bounced because of our error. We paid all of the fees that he had received from those companies as well as refunded all the fees we had charged.
