I get done early now. But when I was a working mom of two kids, we didn't have online shopping. There were years when I was barely able to get everything done on time, including shopping. Adding three work parties, four or five family parties, classroom treats, and our own Santa-fest to my busy day was exhausting--- but it was sure fun!
I guess some people function better under pressure .... I'm definitely not one of them. I pick up special gifts here and there all year long and put them away for Christmas.
Don't try to understand all of that because if you do, you'll hurt yourself.
Many things go in a sale just before Christmas. The shops also empty out as most people have done their present buying. Some people don't know what they'll be doing for Christmas until the last minute.
They forget, they are too busy to do anything until last minute, they like the midnight shopping sales that they have at the Westfield shopping centres (I don't know if any other shopping centre chains have them).
Some are just so busy they can't get it done. I normally make calendars for my family and I haven't even started them. I have had a lot going on for the last few months that I haven't had time to sit down for the few hours it would take to make them.
