Hi Stuart. I believe for certain medical purposes but nobody wants a bunch of Ancients Hippys running around the planet.

I'm with Hippy. We wouldn't want too many more like him. Everybody would be having so much fun that nothing serious would ever get done.

Human cloning is an emotional issue, especially for religious people. Apart from cloning limbs and organs for transplant, I really don't see a great future for it. I'd rather procreate the old fashioned way.

How do you paste pics on here? Is it difficult?

At the top of each answer box is a line of icons. Just select the picture tool, upload it, and away you go.

I find the pic I want first, copy it to my desktop, edit if necessary, and upload from there.

Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should. Science is very good at the first but not so good at the last. What happens when we control evolution?

Reminds me of that film The Island.

Funny we are so scared of extraterrestrial films of abductions and experimentation, but what makes us so different? Maybe, that's the real scarey thing, what we are capable of.

I think I should be cloned (but my cloned self should be ordered to leave booze, cigarettes and women alone) so that he lives longer than I shall.

(OK, leaving women alone will not make him live longer, it will just seem that way.)

Given the words justified and should, I think the ethicists should weigh in with any pertinent observations.

There is a story that some of the well known scientists on the Manhattan project were strolling around and came across a small turtle walking along and picked it up to look at it more closely.

He commented, "I think I have interfered with the universe enough" and put the turtle back down.

And yes, I have occasionally said that the world needs more of a certain type of person, but I never meant a clone.

Certain drugs may have the identical active ingredients in them but the active ingredient may contain a different base in the compound and not have the same effect in one person.

Similarly, I'd rather stick with standard methods of reproduction rather than duplication.

And of course, the clone is the same age as the one cloned---probably inconvenient.
