The way I heard is that BECAUSE of the Iraq war, they're afraid that one day there won't b any more gas and the greedy companies want their (and our) money while they can.
It's higher in Canada too. Not an all time high but pretty close.
It's higher in California to. We are told it's because one of the refineries are down. But it always goes up during the summer and Christmas.
During spring, oil refineries conduct annual maintenance and prep for transition to “summer blend” fuels. This decreases gas production, and, if you understand economics, decreased supply leads to higher prices.
