What is up with the rising gas prices? I’ve seen a $.30 increase in the last couple of weeks.

The way I heard is that BECAUSE of the  Iraq war, they're afraid that one day there won't b any more gas and the greedy companies want their (and our) money while they can.

It's higher in California to. We are told it's because one of the refineries are down. But it always goes up during the summer and Christmas.

During spring, oil refineries conduct annual maintenance and prep for transition to “summer blend” fuels. This decreases gas production, and, if you understand economics, decreased supply leads to higher prices.

There you have it.
In a way, what is happening is the oil companies are artificially pushing up the price of their product to finance their down time. Nice work if you can get it. :)
