If you're with the right person, there is no downside! Companionship, love, romance, disease-free sex....

Downsides? .. There can be many if a couple is incompatible.

After 28 years you would think I would have compiled a list . . . .

The only think that might make the list is differing views, but that is what makes it relationship interesting, so it comes right off the list . . . Sorry I've drawn a blank.

Making the perfect sandwich and then having your wife come up and ask for the last bite.

I would suggest a prenup to deal with this issue alone---even if you agree on everything else.

On the upside, after about 30 years, you become more willing to give her that last bite; and she becomes more unlikely to ask.

I haven't found a down-side yet. Ask me when I've been married a bit longer.

So very true except for the "battleship" always seems to be the world against the couple in love. For example one time when we were really struggling to hold our family together including hold our relationship together, we sought help from the government (if you know what I mean) and she said she couldn't help us. I looked around at the room full of people they were helping and thought to myself why are we getting denied..... She looked around like she was about to give up top secret information and inconspicuously whispered "we would be able to help you if you were not with the father of your children. They make it as hard as possible for families to stay together." And I replied "so if I had three kids with three different daddies you would be able to help?" and she said yes. We were denied because I chose to stay with my children's father.

I'm surprised she was willing to admit it. I'd say that was a woman who was tired of her job. It must have been appalling for her (as well as for you) to be stuck in such a situation.

She was young and seemed new... probably didn't know she was not suppose to say that! LOL! Although her look around leads me to believe she did know and maybe you are right..... LOL!

Then and only then will you have new friends,
