My parents, having already had a small girl as an addition to the family, were expecting a second. They had already chosen a name - "Marion". (The same as John Wayne's real name).
I then turned out to be horribly masculine. Marion wasn't going to cut it.
They looked through the "Radio Times" for a name and happened across Raymond Glendenning.

Didge is short for didgeridoo. A character in my novel had a magic didge he could use to call up the spirits of the land. I borrowed the name from him.

I don't really know what made me think of it. I guess I've always liked goats, they're so silly and stupid looking. Plus, like goats, I also like to climb things and make weird screams. I really like self depricating humor, so I thought "dumb goat" sounded silly and described myself fairly well. I feel like a dumb goat making weird screams and climbing things on a spiritual level.
