I think it will continue, and possibly increase. As the new generation starts to make friends in different parts of the world. (Some sort of translation app, or a built in translator for every phone)
What is the future of texting? I find texting very useful but only use it if I have a specific reason (like contacting my son who works night shift and may be sleeping). If I want to have a conversation, I talk. But it's very popular with young folk. Will it continue to be so?
I'm not really one for texting.
I text for about the same reason as you do Didge. I use talk to text because it would take me minutes to type a sentence.
Texting is great if you have a quick question, but a call or face time for a conversation.
I think texting will be around awhile. It took some time to grow on me and I'd still rather carry on a phone conversation but I guess I'll go with the flow. The best feature I like about it is our kids send my wife and I daily pictures and videos of our grandkids. We save them on our micro SDs and print them off every once in awhile.
I find it useful.
Sometimes I don't want or need to talk, and it certainly can be quicker than writing and sending an email.
And if I am needing specific information, it saves me from having to take notes on a phone call.
So it's a practical solution for me, and it seems to have that advantage for lots of other people.
But my technological forecasting is not always accurate, so someone may come up with a better method and replace it.
