Great choices, but I gotta call you on the Bill Gates one. Gates didn't build the first computer, but did develop the software they run on. I'd say that he and his wife Melinda are changing the world even more with their philanthropy

I stand corrected. I looked up Charles Babbage. You are correct they are doing a lot with their money.

Gates is on my list, too. For those reasons.

Karl Benz for inventing the first gasoline powered automobile.

Ransom Olds for inventing the assembly line.

Henry Ford for revolutionizing  those two inventions for mass production and affordability.

Interesting you chose all pioneers of the automobile. A passion of yours, MM?

I'd say more of a strong interest. Classic trucks and cars have always grabbed my attention.

Because its a beautiful day, my tea is iced and my feet hurt, allow me to bloviate on some world changers:

Genghis Khan- probably no one outside of religious figures singlehandedly changed the world more. Approx 1 in every 200 people alive can trace their genetics to Tamujin, himself.

Thomas Jefferson- no one affected the landscape (in every sense) of North America more than Jefferson. One of my personal idols.

Steve Jobs- visionary who built a garage computer maker into the world's richest company. His iPhone changed everything.

Martin Luther- broke the theocracy of the corrupt Church. Set the Great Enlightenment period in motion.

All those previously mentioned were great in their own right. However one person who changed this world singlehandedly (per se), whose actions have effected each and every one of us was Osama Bin Laden. What he did I need not elaborate.

Well Z, you didn't specifically say WHO'S world and a time frame so I am gonna be ornery and answer outside the box. 😉

My children of course. They changed my world for the better forever! 😊

Two of the first four that came to mind are already listed, Marie Curie and Jonas Salk. The third and fourth are Nicola Tesla and Guglielmo Marconi.
