Ha ha, Jann I actually think maybe we need to consult Dozy here... when I was traveling in 1997-98, I met a couple from Australia, and described to them how I had intended only traveling a couple weeks...turned into 18 months...

Well, they told me about "going walkabout;" and my impression is you don't really have a destination in mind, the word is used is used a little like we would use "going crazy"...no going crazy (where?), no particular object at all...just going!

So ever since then I have loved WALKABOUT.

I had a good mate who was an aborigine. We worked together and kept each other sane in a miserable job. I found a better one after a few months and when I resigned he went walkabout. He didn't tell anybody where he was going or what he was doing, he just left. He rang me later and just said that if I couldn't handle it he wasn't even going to try.

So, yeah, going walkabout is an idea -- a philosophy, maybe -- and doesn't really need a destination.

I'm going bush with my dog and my lady, as soon as she eats breakfast. After that it's anybody's guess.
