Jaimie, that message you saw was under Rooster's answer to this question. LINK It's very sad. I just didn't know.

This may not be one of tthe deepest or wisest thing he ever contributed,  but his answer to Otis's question, "How about those cubs?"  is now very poignant.

"I may not live to see the first man on Mars but I have seen this! This win should have rejuvenation powers on everyone and turn bad health into good health!"

After more than a century of frustration they made it just in time to give John some pleasure in their triumph.

Don't feel sorry for me yin...seriously . .this isn't about me at all ... I'm not religious at all but maybe you could pray for him and grace. I can't pray.

I'd  like to answer My own question so bare with me :) I once stumbled apon one of his mathy or sciency answers and left him some random comment ... But I called him by a wrong name :) he was quick to scold me for calling him "that name "

and "yelled" at me "young lady " we argued back and forth on that question for a while but he captured my heart that day :)  I think the world of John ... He is a great man ... Cos I said so.

Dear Jaimie JT,

I just do like John McCann very much, and I have no idea why...but ever since I came here...I just really do like him, he won my heart.

And I don't want him to die, and there is not a thing in the world I can do about it, and would not anyway because I would always respect such a courageous decision... but I could not help a little sob a couple of weeks ago when I saw he was on dialysis.

And I am glad you posted this because yes, the idea that we are losing John McCann just really really sucks.

Maybe that is what I kinda sensed but never really saw, Jaimie... as I think about it, yes he is quite matter of fact...doesn't put up with much of the world's garbage, speaks out...he does not go gently into that dark night, when I see his posts he does "rage, rage against the dying of the light."

I have not seen his soft side, nor much of his humour, but I absolutely do know it is there.

I sometimes stumbled on his angry posts Virginia :) and I do know there was one person on here that they were mostly directed at ....cos name I called him :) I never read much of them though cos it wasn't any of my concern ... He had great humour and playfulness in him :) he gave that to me.... I'm grateful I got that :)

Jaimie.....There are many favorite answers I have from John, I met John a long time ago when I first came to this site....if I remember correctly, we had our "back n forths" also....but in the process, I gained a wonderful friend. I had a feeling John just needed a little "prying" to get to the side I just knew was there under all the intelligence he shared....I was right! What a wonderful person! I've known he was ill for awhile, I commend him for his brave decision and will miss him and his wisdom. Journey on my friend, journey on. 💕

John and I disagree on a number of things, but in my theology is also is my brother.

(And a bit of humor:  I saw a pillow in a catalog that sisters can give to their sisters for Christmas.  The embroidery says "I smile because you are my sister; I laugh because there is nothing you can do about it.")

I find that meaningful, because I asked our Father to extend him the grace of the Final Option.

If he accepts the offer, he's going to need a "visitor's" pass to attend that pizza party and bonfire where some of those on here expect to have their reunion.

But then, I will offer the same prayer for anyone else who is also my brother ("I laugh because there is nothing you can do about it"), but who is convinced that a different reality exists.  If things work out, all of you such individuals will also need "visitor passes."

.....No disrespect intended.
