When you were a kid (or if you're still a kid) what did you want to be when you stopped growing? Did you change your mind or did you follow the dream?

I wanted to be a train engineer, but then they switched from steam to diesel, not nearly as glamourous in my eyes so I changed my mind.

Oh Korvo...I remember when the steam trains went out, maybe 1953? The whole family went for a last ride on the local...

My mind was changed for me Didge.

Cowboy--allergies to dust.
Astronaut--eyes not good enough.
Rock star--can't sing a note.
Porn star--figure that out yourself.

I wanted to be a Jet plane pilot ! But my Uncle taught me to fly prop planes when I was 15 and I fell in love with the rush of flying those single seat planes. So many good memories!

What a great uncle! That'd be a magic experience and, obviously, it's a love that's still with you.

He was great ! He was a fighter Ace in WW2 and loved restoring those old planes. I was the only one that wasn't afraid to fly with him.

I once saw a sign at a recreational airstrip that read, "Never fly with a pilot who is braver than you."

I wanted to be a Scientist before I first saw Star Trek Enterprise and after seeing that first episode Sept 1966. I was forever a Trekkie :)

Well I know what I never wanted to be..... A COOK!

I wanted to be in the medical field. I did get to be a certified medical assistant but my first boss scared me off and I never went back. However I still had my knowledge and I continue to educate myself so it comes in handy with my life now.

It's surprising how the pieces fit together, isn't it? You start to go down one path and find that, even though you change direction, what you learned is still part of you and still useful.

Hmm. I wonder! Do you know anywhere I can still get a job as a Morse code operator?

Lololololol! Well Didge just like pay phones.... even though there aren't many left, we still need some one to teach how to use them in case of that Zombie apocalypse thingy! Lol! I certainly would want you to teach me morse code so we can talk behind the zombies backs!

I fully expected to be Superman. Apart from the black hair, the muscles, the silly clothes, the ability to fly, the xray vision, I managed it.

We had a bloke in Oz some years ago who used to shoot cats and make Davy Crockett caps out of them. Dunno whatever happened to him but he got a bit of time on TV. He wasn't terribly popular with the cat fanciers.

Couldn't find a link to him but clearly he wasn't alone. Here's a woman who would be the antipodean counterpart of the cat bin woman.

Since I found out about space and astronomy, I've wanted to be a researcher for NASA.  I originally wanted to be an astrophysicist, but then I learned about quantum mechanics and general relativity, so I'm choosing between the two.

I'm almost finished grade 10 (2 more days to go!!), and I'm on my way there, but, obviously, I've got a little ways to go...
