No. I dread holidays anymore. I have to do two families dinners and frankly that is just too much running around and too much food. And hosting it myself doesn't really help because my mother-in-law freaks my family out. My sister-in-law says she reminds her of the mother of the girl in the movie Carrie.

You have to search some cheaper hotels,if they provide great hospitality and all amenities to you ,then it is a great place to stay with your family.
There are places called Hostels, or you can camp out . . Either in tent or vehicle. Bring a portable camp stove and you can cook as well.
They find affordable accomodations which could plausibly mean they camp, or stay with family or friends, or find hotels/hostels that fit their budget .. If they can't, they don't go.

Go to work in Nigeria and see how the ordinary workers live. They look at you blankly if you ask about their holiday. Sundays and religious holidays (and not all of those)are the only time most people have off.
