I checked my roots a while back - I'm very English.....
Its national pferrenusse day and national roots day. So is this your day?😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛😛
I had Irish and English ancestors come to America in the early 1800s, but since that it has been all American.
Spice Rum Bundt Cake and I'm an American.
I could eat pfeffernusse cookies till my teeth bleed, they are so good. My roots are from all over Europe and the UK.

I haven't had pferrenusse on years! As for my dad's side, his roots have been traced back to the arrival of most of his ancestors in North America. On his mother's side they arrived in Canada the 1600's from Scotland. His great-grand father came from Germany shortly before the US Civil War. He fought in the Union Army and became a Captain.
My mother's side is a bit trickier. Her mother is a first generation American. Her parents were from Bohemia. Her father's side is where it gets tricky. My grandfather, who was an only child, lost his father supposedly in a fire when he was just 3 years old. His mother died when he was 11 due to illness, I believe. I haven't found anything on either of them when I have searched.
Over the years my favorite cookies list has become permanently fixed with only two types on it: Oatmeal raisin and sugar. Both vie for number one, and there are no others on it.
I know that I have Irish and German back a few generations, but I have never seriously pursued that information. I am somwhat intrigued with the dna testing that is available, however.
Oh yes. I'm very fond of roots, Otis -- national or otherwise.
