When that happens, instead of thinking "rock and a hard place" I think "total freedom", do what I want, and to hell with the consequences.
So here's to drinks in the dark at the end of my road
And I'm ready to suffer and I'm ready to hope
It's a shot in the dark and right at my throat
'Cause looking for heaven, found the devil in me
Looking for heaven, for the devil in me
Well what the hell I'm gonna let it happen to me
I'm already damned...its a foregone conclusion. A certain sect of surly evangelicals told me so, just before my dogs chased them down the driveway.
"What, me worry?" -Alfred E Neuman
Seriously, it would come to deciding which result presents the lesser evil. Then you muster your nerve and push through.
Figure out which one is least damning and go with that one.
I go with what will be best for me and mine. If it's a family dispute, then I need to analyze what will happen is I do X versus if I do Y and see if that answers my dilemma.
When in serious doubt, have a marguerite!

I don't believe in a deity ... So I don't believe in "damnation" ... So I never find myself in that situation.
LOL
In your mind play out both situations.
What is your first impression about both
out comes? If that doesn't help,
flip a coin. Half the time I may be right,
and I don't know which half that is.
