Because when you reach a certain age there is only so much you can do for fun without breaking a hip.. And there is no one around older than you telling you that it is in poor taste.
And it is cool. Just ask my mom. 😁
I always thought brilliant people were just eccentric and he naturally has his tongue hanging out.
I always liked that picture because I feel it showed even a genius could have a sense of humor and see things from a lighter side.
He apparently had a goofy side and sometimes acted out when expected to behave formally. I retired from a university where he had lived for several terms in the 30's. There were some fun pics and anecdotes in the archives. (I would have liked to have known him.) :)
