Trump just signed a rule which bans people from certain countries from entering US. My country is also on the list. I am terribly offended! No one from Iran has ever been involved in any kind of terrorist attack. Saudi Arabia is not on thethe list?

It is unfortunate. The main problem is the rhetoric, I think. After years of "Death to the Great Satan", you can understand why the generally peaceful Iranians are not that welcome in the US.

Yes.

Trump has decided that until he decides what is causing the lead to be present in the water, he is turning off the tap.

By definition, innocent bystanders are always in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Unfortunately, my reaction is similar when I hear of a plane crash that doesn't involve me or any of my friends or relatives---sh*t happens and the people affected have my sympathy, but I am not philosophically outraged that the plane failed to remain airborne.

No offense Ally, but Ray is right. Four decades of "Death to America!" rallies and a stated political goal of destroying American ally Israel is responsible for Iran's inclusion. Thank the stern theocrats who run Iran for the bad image of your country.

I suppose we shouldn't be just as offended that Iran has now banned American travelers, in response? (Not that very many Americans were headed there, anyway). Besides, a US court has just put a stay on this ban.

Saudi Arabia still has influence in American political circles, they know where to spread the money around.

There is a percentage of Americans who have no interest whatsoever in a relationship with Iran, or any Muslim country for that matter. I can't speak for them, but a tide of isolationism is afoot, driven by the negatives we've mentioned and other issues. Our societies are perceived in some places as incompatible, again fed by the perceptions of Islam as an enemy. These ideals are not dispelled by the actions of the Ayatollahs. There is fault enough to go around. Personally, I don't see these issues resolving anytime soon.

There is that percentage in Iran too. I personally am interested though. I believe we have a lot more in common than we think. We have a great history of alliance and I don't think it is impossible to go to that path again. I wish there was no radicalism. Neither in Iran nor US

These Isolationist Americans also isolate themselves from America by living in townships and rural communities out and far away from all the great things that's actually gets done in America. They probably never met an actual Iranian person their whole entire life. Everything they know and understand comes from the Television.

This summer when they're eating their ice cream cones, they wouldn't know that it was invented by a Muslim American. Let's not forget Muhammad Ali either, who served as a positive role model for millions of people. Browsing Youtube on an afternoon? That website was co-founded by a Muslim immigrant. There's way too many great AmericanMuslim scientists, innovators, inventors, to name including some of my college professors. It's just sad, a voting requirement should be "Have you ever left the 25 mile radius around your home other than for the military?"

Ray and The Z gave a couple reasons to include Iran ... The "Great Satan" rhetoric and stated goal of destroying our ally Israel.

A third reason is ... Iran's actual provocations of our military.  Iran has repeatedly threatened our military ships in the region with attack boats, to the point we have had to fire warning shots.

Actually ... the Persian Gulf is mostly international waters (under international agreement), due to the number of countries that border it and shipping lanes. And the US Navy ships threatened were (are) there to keep the shipping lanes open. As are the occasional warships from other nations.

And sorry - Iran is NOT Persia. The Persian Empire ceased to exist hundreds of years ago. As did the Byzantine Empire. Perhaps you wish to cite the Ottoman Empire, which was the last empire in the region? But I doubt that, since it would place Iran under the control of Turkey.

@Walt I am an Iranian and my language is Persian!!!!! Trust me I know more about my country than you do. Iran officially became Iran in 1935. Before that the name of the country was officially Persia! ,Yes we were not that great but I know the name of my country. You seriously need to read more history before you give opinion about my country. We have never been under the rule of ottomans

@Ray parading sailors only because there was an error is wrong. Iranian media and government are desperate for attention!!!!! They want to look strong. Iranian army idhadn't actually strong but it is nothing compared to the super powers. As I said it was a desperate attempt to make themselves look strong. But about the American sailors it wasis more than just an error. They wanted to show how they can borderd anytime they want and I think our army did the right thing to arrest them.

Countries affected by this ban:  Iran,Iraq,Libya,Somalia,Sudan,Syria and Yemen.

Countries whose citizens were involved in 9/11: Egypt, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates.

Countries that Trumps does business with: Egypt, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates.

I think this says enough about his claims to fight terrorism.

on the side note, the biggest harm that USA could do to Iran was accepting the intellectuals who wanted to go there, many of the country's brightest chose USA as a destination, people like Maryam Mirzakhani the first winner of fields medal.Cumran vafa, and many many more.

Trump did Iran's government a favor by this ban.

On another side not: this ban has ruined my hopes for the future I wanted.

We'll have to agree to disagree. Car manufacturing has come back, largely in part because of Trump. Do you remember Carrier's threat to go to Mexico? Companies here in Illinois have closed down and gone on to other countries over the last 8 years putting plenty of people out of work. As for the stock market, they were MANY a dismal day (more bad than good). I'm not saying Trump is the answer for everything, I'm simply saying we have to give him a chance to prove what he can or cannot do. Either way it is too soon to call.

Well, Tink, I am one American who is scared to death about what Trump can do. I remember what was done with Carrier - they were bribed to keep a small number of jobs in the US while the rest departed for Mexico. And they are going to replace most of the remaining jobs with automation. Woopie Trump!

well, Tik, I for oneb

I already explained to you why "manufacturing" isn't necessarily what the typical manual laborer who voted for Trump believes it to be. Today's manufacturing is not the same as Detroit's manufacturing that lead to it's downfall. It's all automation. Being built, maintained, updated, and upgraded by people with actual technical college degrees. It is now more profitable for China to manufacture their products here than use their manual labor force, the jobs Trump voters want.

One thing I don't get about Illinois in general, the people are great but they tend to vote for people who end up in prison.

Remember when we locked up our Japanese citizens in concentration camps? This is no different.

Iran is an absolutely beautiful country. Two of my computer science professors for my masters program were Iranian.

Trump voters aren't very bright to begin with, so honestly I doubt they understand what's going on or even care. They're still celebrating the whole "Take that you whiny libbies, we won!" without actually comprehending what that entails, if you catch my drift. I'm sorry that our average rural American has caused you the trouble. Hopefully things will turn for the better in the future once our much brighter and educated millennials take over the grumps. Maybe mail a check to Muslims like what we did for the our Japanese citizens as an apology.

Just because you don't agree with me, doesn't mean I'm a troll. At least walk the talk Walter. Often times, reality may offend those with certain insecurities and in-deniability. They feel insulted when nobody is actually insulting them.

Not everyone who supports Trump is an idiot. But everyone who still supports Trump after witnessing his executive orders in office IS an idiot. That's not an insult, that's just the opinion of the majority of the world at this point.

Let me ask you this, have you ever been to the beautiful country of Jordan? Have you been in the homes of Muslim families? Have you worked with genius inventors and innovators from Iran or Syria? You haven't and most of Trump voters haven't either.

@ Walter: I personally have great respect for those who voted for Trump. There are lots of things I believe Trump will sort out for good. My only problem is his attitude towards us as Iranians. It is interesting because no Iranian terrorsit has ever been seen in US. I would say there are no Iranian terrorsits to begin with. We have lots of scientists in America. Lots of doctors and professors and engineers, etc. Not a single terrorist. It isis also funny because the educational level of average Iranians are higher than average Americans.

I believe USA gets our precious much need life saving "O I L"  from Saudi Arabia and they have unlimited diplomatic immunity from all crimes directly and indirectly knowingly committed against it's people, especially women and America.

Just my wild opinion 😊

None of his actions should come as a surprise. He did stated repeatedly he was going to do ALL this and more to come. Remember 60,000,000 + of our fellow Americans and 250? Electoral agreed with him as well. Oh yes, his BFF Putin too.

Here listen to Putin, he is the only leader who has ever dared to come close to describing why things are the way they are and who created ISIS and why.

Leaders are war profiteers they have no problem with selling weapons to Arab countries, whilst telling their own people a bunch of lies.  Also notice the Arab countries have refused to take in any refugees from Syria etc while they get deported to the West.

Also the west is already on the receiving end of a big problem, they are the victims of bomb attacks and shootings made up by their own leaders.

So as you can see, we are not without our own problems in the West, we have the same enemy as you.
