Define RICH, Megan.
Oh I'm rich, I just don't have a whole lot of money.
Probably.
Money No, but I have everything I need and want.
Far from it.
Not really at all. I used to be exceptionally poor during the preteen period of my life. The rest of my childhood, however, was usually in lower-middle class, occasionally drifting from in and out of worse depending on our debt situation. Actually, I had a rich friend, her and her mother would comment on my family's wealth offhandedly, which irritated me. I remember once her mother said to my friend, when coming to pick me up from my house, "You see there? How messed up the roads are? The roads are like this here because they are poor" and another time, when visiting their home I complemented the house to be polite, and she said something about how their house was normal and I probably only felt that way because I must live in a shitty house because I was "poor."
It especially irritated me because her mother was rich just because of her rich husband, as she didn't have a job therefor condescending comments about my parents was not something she was in the position to make. She always was dreadful to be around and mean to people, as well as not the sharpest tool in the shed; I never thought she deserved her wealth and always secretly wished that he would divorce her and force her to not be able to rely on his money.
Financially speaking... As a child I would consider where I am today rich, but I grew up hovering around the poverty line. Today I consider myself financial standing as comfortable.
In the more valuable sense of the word. I am very rich. I have a wealth of family and friends. Most of them are not the types to create drama. They are supportive and I have no issues supporting them.
My family is well-off I guess.
There was a point in my life where the only other thing I wanted was a helicopter.
But there were two problems---I would have been afraid to fly one and I wouldn't have been able to afford one.
So, it turns out that at 71, in retrospect, my glass has always been full---neither too little or so much that it overflowed and got my hand wet.
And if your glass is both large enough and also full, how "much " (by size or value) of anything you have is more important to the person passing judgment on what you have than it is to you.
An interesting question. I have never considered myself "rich" but I realised a few years ago that I no longer have to worry about money unless some global catastrophe occurs to screw up things over which I have no control (but even then, I reckon I'd be OK).
That means that compared to 96% of the worlds population, I am rich. I ought to be more grateful......
Define rich?
Yes, by many measures, I am rich. More importantly, I am thankful beyond measure to be so.
