Dressing hands down
Stuffing. Dressing is what I pour on salads.
Stuffing I guess why is everybody obsessed with thanksgiving?!
Stuffing. It's also called filling around this area.
I say "stuffing", but some people in my family say "dressing" so I'm used to both.
In my family, it’s always been called dressing.
Definitely stuffing
According to most dictionaries, stuffing is defined as “a mixture used to stuff another food, traditionally poultry, before cooking.” Whereas dressing is cooked in a pan outside of the turkey cavity.
Personally, I call it dressing. My mother always cooked that stuff inside the turkey, and I think she called it stuffing.
I used to do the same about 30 years ago when I cooked turkey or chicken, but then I started calling it dressing when we started using Stove Top most of the time---probably because---given my preference for using accurate words---it was no longer "stuffed" into anything.
But Stove Top does label it as "stuffing mix."
(And I wasn't aware of the dictionary definitions until I googled the issue tonight.)
I call it stuffing no matter how you make it. And as long as it isn't made from cornbread, I call it delicious.
