Since blurtit is a Q&A site, I think it would be great if religious and political comments be stopped. Answer as you wish but respect others ways. Please don't comment if you disagree, OK?

I don't mind them personally but...

it starts arguments and sometimes hurts people's pride

It should be stopped!

When it comes to religion and politics, people will never agree and will always hold their own opinions. I don't mind the questions and the answers that community members give, it's the lack of respect and the arguing that ensues over these issues that becomes despicable.

Could you imagine the arguments if the Pope became a US citizen, then ran and won the presidency? I think the internet would blow up.

Not gonna happen, Hippy. Why would he take a short-term job running a single country when he can control half of the planet with tenure for life?

Oh, he'd still be able to rule the Popedom while POTUS. He's got a lot of helpers, all over the Earth.

He would have to be born a US citizen to run. So it can't happen with the current pope.

I don't know Rooster, I would suggest consideration be given before bowing to the scourge of PC. What is Blurtit about? I would surmise it's about exchanging views and personal insights, correct me if I misspeak on this. People will disagree, some of them will perceive argument where there is merely opposing view. We should be wary of wielding a wide brush of censorship.

I think he is, Ty, but we can only guess what he sees up there in "Blurtit! Central Control".
I thought it important to at least run the censorship angle up the flagpole, because it is, as you mention, a slippery slope. Let's take this posting as a call to police ourselves in our interactions here.

There will be no censorship at all. Your answers and such are just fine. There are just one or two that have to push their beliefs on others in comments. I am a very fair moderator and have no problem with you Ty. You don't understand the whole picture here. All will be just the same. I'm the one who gets the complaints from both sides. The real problem is the trouble makers that make the good people like yourselves look bad. We've handled the problem so far and everything is fine. You are welcome to answer questions in any way you see fit. It's fine with us.

Z - Well Z, I guess it's alright for us to go back to our corner lol

Rooster - Thanks for clearing that up, as I said I thought you to be a fair moderator and I completely missed the point, sorry.

My statements are the same as Angela Anthony.

We should be able to discuss and share ideas on all subjects.

I say delete the argumentative name calling dodo persons immediately.  LOL.

Lots of answers from people who love pushing their views on others. If religion and politics are banned I won't miss either. But people who love to argue and be disagreeable will just find other subjects.

The Ask mods were much maligned (unfairly in my opinion) but they went through the nasty comments with their zapper and kept the site friendly.

There's room for political/religious questions but it does put a lot of work on the mods -- especially on a site as tolerant as this one.

Some people here answer almost all questions with scripture from the bible but they never comment and push their thoughts and ways on others.

Great idea.

And then, let's eliminate the on/off switch on the TV and go after the programmers and writers and actors.

Yes, primarily because such a trait is recognized only by those of us who possess those minds.

The truth is that we've gotten to a place in our society that everyones feeling get hurt or people get so easily offended that we can't really have civil debates on anything interesting anymore.  As a result many never really learn to see things from other perspectives or at least understands (even if they still don't agree) that there are differing ways of looking at things.

Questions on religious issues are fine, answers are fine too. The use of a Q&A website to push a personal religious/political agenda probably isn't. One contributor here, for instance, frequently includes links to the Jehovah's Witnesses website. (Probably in contravention of Blurtit's terms of use, which specify (in this context) "Personal blog sites only").

It is in the nature of politics and religion  that the most entrenched views exist on both sides, and ne'er the twain shall meet. (I've never come across a politician or religious fanatic who would be prepared to admit they were wrong, or that there might be a different point of view).

It would be a pity to have to ban such questions, but might make the site a nicer place to be. (See, I'm sitting on the fence as usual!)

Just change the name of the website to Blurtit non religious or non political questions. It sounds like you just want a site to hang out. I think that is what Facebook is for. There are those don't know any of you, they just want their questions answered. They are not looking for a friend, just an answer. If that upsets the family environment that you want, call the website something else that will allow you to just fraternize, and keep up to date on where you went for your vacation.

You do know there are questions people ask that have nothing to do with religion or politics?

I come here day after day to check the science and math sections for questions needing answering. Those pages can stay frozen in place for days at a time. Clean up the silliness ( religion is that ) and perhaps the interesting questions will come back to this site.

Ty : You have completely blown this out of proportion. It's only a couple of fanatics that bother other people that we wish stopped. Otherwise, everything is fine. I think I've handled the problem child's and things should go back to normal as they were. This is and will remain a Q&A forum for all.
