I support it. We need it. It's a right. We are not there yet but we have to be and hopefully we will be.

Dear Avhie Avhie,

Men and women are so different...I don't really see the relationship in terms of equality...maybe balance is a more accurate term.

Yes, certainly women should receive equal pay, but how about bringng a more wholesome feminine perspective into the structure of our society?

When I married, I wanted a wife who would be my partner in this life.

I wanted to pool our individual talents, gifts, and unique understandings of reality to synergize what we were capable of creating.

We have accomplished that in fine fashion and have found that numerous people of various ages admire what they see in our relationship and what we have facilitated in our children.

I never wanted to change the world, and certainly never all at once. I just wanted make my part of it a fun place to be.

I have no problem with equality of rights, responsibilities and opportunities between the sexes. I don't know anyone outside the Middle East that does.

I do find it odd that equality has come to mean "being the same" and the last time I looked, men and women were very different, physically, personality-wise and in outlook.

Equality is important but the topic in America is a joke.

Personally I believe it is more crucial and relevant in places such as Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.

Quite a controversial and sensitive topic. We already have it. Sure, both men and women are discriminated against and there are people who are sexist against women and people who are against men. But we cannot change that. We cannot change people's opinions on any subject. If you want to see gender inequality, just go take a vacation to Pakistan or Saudi Arabia and let's see how unfair and hard we have it in the west. Lol

I believe in equal pay for equal work, but Ray makes a very good point, we are different.  It is that opposite that intrigues us, frustrates us, and baffles us, but keeps us interested.  We should acknowledge those differences as something to be celebrated, I often look at my partner and he has something I don't have, and so I am drawn to him, (and no I don't just mean a wiener).

My grandmother used to say to be sure you have cleaned under your porch before you point to clutter under someone else's.  (She was from the old south and I assumed that was some sort of local wisdom).  Thus, I experience a bit of discomfort when the argument becomes "Sure, but what about Saudi Arabia or some other social hellhole."  Those social hellholes can solve their own problems, but we need to address our own problems to be the best we can be.  Just being a bit better than others insn't good enough.

I agree very much. For us to fulfill our own potential, and not just shut our eyes to problems because we can always dig up somewhere worse off.
