Dear Zack,

I don't really have any doubt...the best days are still to come, they are ahead of me. Old age is underrated.

I was only thinking of the physical, Virginia. No more triathlons for me. No more marathons. No more hang gliding. Sigh!
But life is still good and there are lots of entertaining and interesting things to do.

And, given the nature of the question, Ray's answer had the added benefit of answering both ways.

Every new day is a possible adventure and I look forward to these best days yet to come.

Don't really know.  Right now life is good but, as I discovered some three years ago, that can change with a simple visit to the Doctor's office.  The one thing I know for sure is that I have more days behind me than in front of me - unless I manage to live to 143.

I did the math too...KB and I are contemporaries, quite close... although I think I have some months maybe a year head start...

I consider the fact I now have all this experience, which I did not have back in the day. I feel I can avoid most of life's obstacles. I am energetic; I have imagination; creativity; and I am ready to re-invent myself. Up, up, and away!

The very best days are ahead.

Past is past. Must live present to build future and future is full of mysterious and new adventures. And guess what? We are the director of our lives.

Every morning as you wake up, you have this chance to create the best days of your life or hit a success. Or vise versa. The choice is ours.

How would I know that?

I am quite ill so I could make a probability statement as to my best days being behind me but one can not be sure of this thing.

For instance, Tom Jackson could finally see the delusion he lives under and default to the atheist position!!!

That would definately be a best day in front of me!

It may well be too late for you John, but it may not be for the reasons you imagine.

I agree that the body is mortal; but the issue is whether it is so because another "part" of us that IS immortal no longer shares its act of existence with it or because there is no other part of us that does that.

Nevertheless, being a "believer" both has and continues to have made my life much more interesting than what you have indicated yours has been as a non-believer.

You have missed much---and I consider that a tragedy.

You Tom have missed everything and I consider that a catastrophe for you and all you interact with. Your delusion has wide ranging effects that disrupt lives in the real world. I can see nothing more boring than the made up world you try to live in.

There is no issue here except in your febrile brain. We are through here because you have not submitted one bit of evidence for this delusion of your, and you never will.

Goodbye until next time. Will there be evidence next time or will there be the usual empty arguments you make?

CS Lewis observed that the tragedy of Nero was not that he fiddled while Rome burned, but that he fiddled on the brink of Hell.

You do love your fiddle---Groucho Marx also had a comment for someone like you.

I commend you to God's mercy rather than His justice.

If you are right, soon nothing will matter to you---including whether you were right or wrong.

One way or the other, you will soon have all the evidence you will ever need about what happens after death.

So far my best days have been in college, and I am graduating college next June. A part of me wonders if then I will feel my best days are behind me.

Well .. To be truthful .. I don't know yet.

But .. Just having retired this year .. I have to say, life is a lot less complicated .. And I'm lik'n it .. At lot!  I don't need anything extravigant to happen ... Just want to maintain what we've accomplished and I'm happy to just coast from here.

Family is happy and healthy .. So .. So far so good.
